This breed is from the North of Portugal or Marao, hence its name. It is considered one of the purest breeds in Portugal
because its area of origin is one of the most inhospitable in the country, where it would be difficult to breed other types of animals.
It is a very hardy animal. Its large curved horns stand out. It is one of the indigenous breeds of the peninsula
with the most intense flavour.
