The Minhota breed shares kinship and descent with the Rubia Gallega. In 1996 Portugal started to compile a stud book on the Minhota. The Minhota is a breed that has many positive qualities: it is a great working animal, has a great calving facility and a good milk production, superior to the Rubia Gallega. They are large animals with good profitability. They have a high level of fattening, giving high quality meat, easy to eat and intense flavour.
