It derives from the same stock as the Iberian Avileña-Negra and the Morucha. However, some authors consider it to be a descendant of the European variant of the Bos Taurus Ibericus. They are noted for their traction capacity and docility. They do not like noise. One of the oldest genetics among the autochthonous breeds of the peninsula, very similar to the genetics that grazed 9,500 years ago. It is an ancestral animal.
